This installation explored the concept of spatial displacement.
In 2014, while pursuing my bachelor's degree at the Federal University of Juiz de Fora in Brazil, I realized the university campus was located far from the city center. I met students who told me they rarely, if ever, went downtown, which made me reflect on how some could spend their entire five-year academic life confined to the campus.
The artwork was designed to create a spatial displacement to one of the most popular places in the city: Rua Halfeld. The installation, located at the Guaçuí Gallery, invited participants to scan QR codes using an external app. This revealed a real-time camera feed of the crowded street in downtown Juiz de Fora, Brazil.
